Like most DPF-equipped diesel vehicles, the 2.2 i-DTEC has been known to develop DPF problems. A full replacement (particularly when undertaken at a dealer) can easily set you back around ยฃ1k. In the UK, at least, there are many companies offering to remove the DPF and undertake the corresponding necessary A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Wall-flow diesel particulate filters usually remove 85% or more of the soot, and under certain conditions can attain soot removal efficiencies of close to 100%. Honda CRV 2005 2,2 diesel - misguide of DPF -have replaced the pre-converter . I bee missguided by a pal and have replaced the pre-converter to my CRV instead to replace the right  DPF ; the problem - light glow in the dash board - occured a while ago when the engine lost power and I have been to dealer and have performed the regeneration but didn´t last much - 1919km only . 15 posts ยท Joined 2008. #1 ยท Mar 26, 2016. Hi Guys, Have previously owned three Civics, all great. In 2012 I purchased a CRV, all was good. Last year in April, just before the warranty ran out, I had a DPF warning light appear, my local garage said it was not covered, but advised me to give it a good long run. I did this and cleared the message. No DPF's are fitted to any UK spec iCTDi Civics unless ordered as an optional (expensive) extra. The 9G 2.2 will have a DPF with its DTEC engine. D. If it has re-clogged, considering you regularly are up to temperature, You've probably got an issue upstream:- the DPF is a symptom, not the problem (Unless you are using the car as a shopping trolley) in the vast majority of cases. Wilmo. I-CDTi engines don't have DPF, I-DTEC do as far as I know, even though both are 2.2 litre. Yeah, the 9th generation is complying with different EU regulations for emissions. Euro 5b, which resulted in DPF's being fitted. The 8th Generation is Euro 4 with some being Euro 5a IIRC. For example the latest Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo produces 40bhp and 50lb/ft more than the previous non-Turbo 1.8 yet it does noticeably more mpg and costs less to tax. The new CRV using the same 1.5 Turbo should be worth a look if funds allow and VAGโ€™s 1.4/1.5 TSi petrols are very close to the diesel brethren for economy and performance.
